 TYPES OF BEES

Bees are insects belonging to the superfamily Apoidea. They feed on flower nectar and most species have a eurosocial organization: hives consist of a queen bee, hundreds of worker bees and a few male drones.

The main duty of a queen bee is to lay eggs. In order to maintain a large colony, a queen bee lays an average of 1500 eggs per day.

Honey bee colonies have only one queen bee, and each bee in the  hive is her daughter or son. Queens are easy to recognize by their large abdomen and the retinue of workers that follow and surround her. If a second queen appears in the colony, workers will force the invading queen out of the hive or both queens will fight until only one remains.If the queen bee dies, the worker bees fight for the queen's position.If a second queen appears in the colony, the workers will force the invading queen out of the hive.

Adult forager bees usually live 30 days longer from the time they begin foraging, about 51 days in total. This is because foraging is one of the most dangerous tasks in the colony. Outside the nest the workers are exposed to all the dangers of the outside world. They could be attacked by predators, get lost on the way home, get caught in a storm, fall victim to disease or pesticides in the environment, or any number of other dangers. In the winter when worker bees huddle inside the nest to keep warm, they can live up to 6 months.if bees leave their hive, they Will die more quickly

Males are only around for a few months of the year. They can look a little strange with their large eyes, which almost completely surround their head. Their eyes are large so they can detect queen bees as they fly. The male's only job is to spread the colony's genes.
